Hydropower Plant

Conventional hydropower plants are the backbone of Norwegian electricity production. They convert the potential energy of stored or flowing water into electricity by directing it through a turbine. Plants with large storage reservoirs deliver dispatchable base-load power; run-of-river plants follow seasonal flow patterns. Both have decades-long operating lifetimes and produce some of the lowest-cost low-carbon electricity available.
